you know, Michael Jackson represented something about America. he came from a dysfunctional family and still managed to succeed, although he later became dysfunctional himself. how many of us can say the same thing about our own lives? as things went wrong with him, it was like a reflection of our values going down the toilet. the media created and then destroyed Michael Jackson. i dont believe he was ever guilty of anything other than being eccentric. i do not believe he ever molested children. i guess God will judge him if he did. his appearance was probably a result of a bad nose job and the subsequent attempts to fix the botched surgery. look at Sylvester Stallone, Tom Selleck, or any other Hollywood icon if you want to see how one bad surgery can leave you looking like the Joker. why do they do it? insecurity from fame? who knows.

anyways, my point... his death kind of summarizes what is lacking about our society today. we have no great people who are willing to try to make things right, even if it consumes them in the process. whatever your opinion of Michael, you have to admit that he tried to help make the world a better place. maybe he fell apart in the attempt, but at least he tried.
